As we already know bodybuilding, as well as everything else, is largely determined by events that happen behind the curtains. We are talking about activities that the regular person is not aware of. It’s hard to connect the dots when you don’t see the whole picture. In the sport of bodybuilding the winners are always carefully selected in order to make the right people happy. It has been this way since Arnold Schwarzenegger’s times and even before that.
Today, the games goes on. The new player is Phil Heath.
#politics for the win
Some of you may not know but the current Mr. Olympia, Phil Heath, who just recently took his 4th title, has peculiar connections with NPC Texas Chairman and IFBB judge Lee Thompson. Over the years there have been tweets (online messages) linking Heath and Thompson to lunch meetings as well as business ventures.
In the image below you can see a tweet made by Lee Thompson himself or whoever manages his Twitter account.
The tweet links to an Instagram post which reveals the following photo.
As you can see Lee Thompson is pretty excited for his friend Phil Heath who has just won his 4th Sandow (title) after defeating guys like Kai Greene, Shawn Rhoden and Big Ramy.
Are we the only ones who think that this is one large conflict of interests?

Of course, friendship knows no boundaries, but there is no doubt that having similar connections deep at the IFBB seems to be quite helpful when it comes to placing higher than what you deserve.
Truth be told, Heath and Thompson’s friendship has been going on for a long time and people were already talking about this particular connection in 2012.
Here’s what a member of bodybuilding.com’s board had to say on the subject regarding the 2012 Olympia:
Now, you have even more evident facts that Mr. Olympia and the whole IFBB scene are nothing more than a complete joke that’s a little hard to take seriously when people are not even trying to hide their connections. As we have already said, this is not a surprise since nothing is what it appears to be, and the guy that smiles to you in public is often doing it while calculating his profits made on the back of ignorant individuals, just like you, who fall for mainstream propaganda.

HOW TO FIX IT
Change the judges each show
One of the first steps to improving professional bodybuilding and in particular the judging system is to require different judges in every re-run. It makes no sense to keep the same judges for years and expect different results. Without rotations the same bodybuilders will be pushed over and over again. The way contests are judged will also remain unchanged for many years.
At the same the judges should also be prohibited from being in business relationships with current competitors.
What would happen if a judge in the judiciary is also friends with the culprit? Would this increase the possibility of a fair trial.
Reduce the size requirements
It’s obvious that bodybuilders lost their aesthetics decades ago. One of the ways to bring it all back is to require from all competitors to have small waists. This will cause reduction of drug usage and fix a lot of health issues. Bodybuilders will also save a lot of money since they are paying fortunes for anabolic steroids and growth hormone each month.
Reduce politics and racism
During Mr. Olympia 2014 Mamdouh Elssbiay was introduced as Big Ramy many times. While it’s fine to call him by his nickname, it shows lack of professionalism and to be quite fair disrespect towards the competitor when you don’t say his real name at least once. On top of everything when Mamdouh Elssbiay took the microphone during the press conference, the crowd started laughing because those people have obviously never heard a foreign language before.
This reveals one more time that the Olympia is not fairly judged and the judges as well as the organizers of the event are more interested in who you are as far as marketing material goes. Your physique on the day of the show comes second or third..or maybe it’s irrelevant.
If the Olympia was fairly judged, guys like Kevin Levrone, Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler, Kai Greene, Nasser El Sonbaty and many more, would have been champions instead of having constant re-runs of the same show for several years before a change. Currently, last 3-4 Olympias have looked exactly the same, like a re-run of the previous year.
Could it be that the reason there are no changes is that the current business ventures are going well?
LIFE GOES ON
In the end of the day, Mr. Olympia is just what it says it is – a SHOW. There are far more important things that we are doing wrong on a daily basis and a corrupt bodybuilding contest is a symptom, not the cause of the disease the human world has been suffering from for a long time.
Will it all end? Definitely not.
Is there a cure? Definitely.
This world is Hell and will remain Hell forever. Here, we are all sinners – slaves to time and flesh. In order to be happy and successful according to this world’s standards you have to pay with blood and hurt others. Nobody truly finds happiness and peace because they don’t exist here. What we can do, however, is damage control. The fact that this kingdom is destined to fail does not give us the right to make it worse than it already is by selling ourselves all the way for happy meals.
